Independence Day Celebration

Written by Brazos Heritage on . Posted in Blog

Wow!  The Heritage Park 4th of July Celebration has come and gone and for many of us marks the halfway point for the year!

However, before we start preparing ourselves for Christmas I would like to reflect and share what Independence Day in Heritage Park looked like with you.

First, I want to recognize the BHS Events Committee – Stephanie and Randy Hilliard- for all of their hard work in putting this event together.  As you can imagine, an event of this scale requires a lot of time, organization, dedication, and energy.  And the Hilliards seem motivated solely by the desire to continue to grow and create an organization worthy of great things.  Thank you Stephanie and Randy!  Once again, you out did yourselves!

Of course the whole event would not have been such a success without the help of the donors and the volunteers manning the booths and running the adorable kids parade!  We also received several donations for the silent auction including the much sought after – Dinner at the Clary House Gazebo.  Thanks to all who so graciously gave!

It was a perfect day for our 4th of July Celebration.  The Heritage Park pavilion was dressed beautifully in red, white, and blue providing the perfect setting for the band who played everything from The National Anthem to Johnny Cash.

Booths from our beloved organizations lined the park under the trees.  Each organization provided the visitors with education about their cause, some entertainment, and gifts!

The refreshing watermelon was free! And there were hotdogs and refreshments for $.50!

The sojourners came out to proudly raise the flag while the band played and everyone in the park stood quietly singing our National Anthem.

The children in the parade were delightful in their star spangled outfits that matched their equally decked out rides!

Noon came to soon and the sun reminded us that it was time to go inside and get cooled off.

It was wonderful!  It was a good old fashioned American celebration of our great nation and I was once again reminded of how incredibly fortunate I am to be a citizen of the USA and member of this fabulous group.

Thank you again.

Let Freedom Reign!
